When it comes to the management of the accounting section of a company, there are a number of divisions- controller, controller etc. However, the person who acts as a blanket term for all these functions is the Accounts Director. He holds a responsible position in the company and requires great accounting skills.

Accounts Director Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Controlling and managing the entire department of accounting of the company along with the staffs who are working there.
  • Reviewing and overseeing the works done by other accountants working in the company.
  • Ensuring that the work of accounting is carried out perfectly as a head of the accounts department.
  • Interpreting of either the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), depending on the choice of the company in this matter.
  • Accounting policies, designing them and making sure that they are executed perfectly.
  • Preparing budget lines for the monthly and annual costs of the company. This enables the company to stay within its budget and avoid going bankrupt.
  • Providing correct financial information, which in the long run helps a company to prosper.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s or masterโ€™s degree in accounting with related subjects like Mathematics or Economics from an accredited institution.
  • Five or ten years of experience in related field is an added advantage
